After forum and Gallery restore, missing images

Error description and message
Great addition to my board, thank you very much for creating it!

On my live board everything is working fine, it's on my test forum (the place I test mods etc.) I'm having a problem.

I've uploaded all forum files and restored the database, everything in the forum seems to work fine but in the Gallery many images are missing. It shows as broken link, no thumbnail or larger image.

This concerns me because if ever I need to restore my forum or database I need to know I can get back up and running.

Ive tried many times uploading ALL forum and Gallery files as well as restoring earlier database but same problem.
Could this be a permissions problem? I believe I have all albums set to allow guest accounts to view but I'll look into that further.

Which ftp-program are you using?

I'm using filezilla.

I found this morning the folder gallery/images/medium on the test forum contains only index.htm and no image files.
This same folder on my live site and in my backups contains 421MB and 1274 files.

I tried using fireftp ( a addon to Firefox) and same problem.
I think this must be where the problem lies but why.

While uploading folder "medium" to the gallery/images directory on the test site using fireftp I refreshed the folder contents in filezilla and it showed an increasing number of files and MB's but after completion of the upload all that's left is index.htm
Now for some reason the server has blocked me temporarily due to "suspicious activity"
Sheesh!

Ideas?

FileZilla does some weird things,

NOTE: Ensure your FTP program is set to use "Binary" mode for files with no extension. In FileZilla, this can be changed by going to Edit > Settings > Transfers > File Types and unchecking the box next to "Treat files without extension as ASCII file."

Try something like WinSCP for downloading the files from your server.

Ok so I've tried 4 different ftp programs including Winscp which can't seem to keep a connection with the server then freezes so I uninstalled it.

None of the programs will upload the contents of gallery/images/medium.
ALL of them will download the files just fine however.

This is getting very frustrating.
Can you PLEASE tell me, Are all of the image files (1200 or so) in my "medium" folder needed in order for Gallery to display thumbnails and the larger images or am I fishing at the wrong cause for images not displaying?

you only would need the ones from upload/ the other ones should be created by the gallery afterwards.

I'm starting to think this is a bug in the software.
Have you tried restoring your board and Gallery?

Still trying to sort this out.
To that end I'm trying to locate one specific image I have on the live forum but not on the test forum.
With the cryptic numbers in the Gallery directory that's nearly impossible far as I can tell.

Nick, can you tell me where the thumbnail images are stored?
I'm hoping if I can find that one image I can sort this problem out.

Are the files in gallery/images/medium needed for the gallery images to display?

I mean, if there are no image files in gallery/images/medium will the images in the gallery still display?

There seem to be 3 sizes of the same image, where are those images stored?
